School Days

School Days

School Days looks at the early  schools that existed in the Cowes area including the work done by the churches to educate their congregation also the private schools and private educators that existed.

The first National Schools were at Cross Street, York Street and Denmark Road. The Grammar School was in Union Road but that was fee paying.

The Secondary Modern School in Crossfield Avenue was by far the largest school built in the area, it has since undergone many name changes to become an academy

Interviews with Cliff Michelmore of BBC fame and Mark King of  Level 42, as ex pupils illustrate pupil / teacher relationships in those days
